Serious Accident On SR 46 Results in Multiple Trauma Patients

Firefighters Had To Cut Trauma Patients from Seriously Damaged Vehicle |

East Lake County, FL - Lake Firefighters had to extricate two patients from a multiple vehicle accident including a semi and jeep Cherokee on SR 46 in the area of the 429 construction this Monday afternoon.
6 patients were transported. 3 of those patients were in critical condition and transported to local trauma centers by ground transports. Trauma helicopters were unable to respond to the scene due to the weather.
"We had three engines and a squad respond along with multiple EMS transport units" explains Lt. Brian Gamble, Vice President of the Professional Firefighters of Lake County. "With the humidity, heat and work conditions, we have to respond additional manpower to help our initial arriving units with all the patients and to cut the patients out of one vehicle.There was serious damage to the Jeep Cherokee."
The accident is being investigated by the Florida Highway Patrol.
