Lake County Fire Adds First Ever Rescue

ASTOR, FL - Today is a historic day for Lake County Emergency Services. Lake County Fire has added their very first transport ambulance with firefighters crossed trained as paramedics/EMT's on it in service for 24 hour a day service at Station 10 in Astor. This ambulance will be known as a "rescue" in the near future.

Lake County Welcomes New Firefighters and Recognizes Outstanding Service

Mt. Dora, FL – Hundreds of friends and family members filled the room at Lake Receptions Friday night as Lake County welcomed 18 new hire recruits and recognized life-saving actions of firefighters in 2015. The 18 new firefighter recruits recently completed a 5 week training school with Lake County Fire Rescue to become candidates for hiring.

High School Robotics Club Helps Firefighters Collect Toys

Leesburg, FL – The Lake County Firefighters toy store is open and will have some special elfs on Friday helping families shop for toys. Students from the FIRST Robotics Team 1557 – 12 Volt Bolt club will be at the shop to help the families. The team is a Lake County high school robotics team that meets in downtown Eustis and consists of 35 students from all Lake County high schools.

A cooking fire is three times more likely on Thanksgiving than on any other day of the year. “Most fires on Thanksgiving occur between noon and 4:00 p.m. – the peak cooking hours,” says Lt. Firefighters Cut Patients from Helicopter Crash Debris

Eustis, Florida – A helicopter pilot and passenger ended up on a medical helicopter after their light weight copter they were flying crashed into a residential neighborhood early Friday morning. Bystanders watched as the helicopter spun out of control after takeoff and a short flight from the Umatilla airport a few miles away.
