Hurricane Preparation Tips & Guide
Updated On: Sep 09, 2017
Lake County (and pretty much anywhere in Florida right now) - you need to make final storm preparations TODAY! If you have any questions, the Lake County HOTLINE to call is 352-253-9999. If you have an emergency, call 9-1-1. If it is just a question, please use the hotline number.
Some prep tips:
1. Go move loose outside items inside. This means trash cans, lawn furniture, flags, toys, or anything that can become a projectile in high winds
2. Make sure you can get out of your garage should your power go out. Test our your emergency release and locks.
3. Fill your bathtubs, sinks, tupperware, buckets, pots, or whatever you have with water to flush toilets, bathe and drink
4. Bring your pets inside or to a protected building. DO NOT LEAVE your dogs or cats outside.
5. Cut any branches or trees back from your home
6. Stock batteries and have flashlights and lanterns ready. If you must use a candle, secure a safe area for it that does not have anything easily combustible nearby.
